GetResponse Email Marketing Review – Is It Good Enough?

Introducing GetResponse To Your Business

GetResponse Email Marketing ServiceGetResponse email marketing review was one of the most requested topics I have been asked for the last 2 weeks, so I have decided to give my opinion and experience with their service.

First of all,  I just want to let you know that GetResponse is not the current tool I’m using for my email marketing campaigns (although I have used it before). So, in this article, you will find a full unbiased review of how GetResponse works, its features, benefits and weak points.

Things being said, for the purpose of this study, I have created an account, and I’ve tested some of the features.

Another thing I want to point out is that they offer a Free 30-Day Trial of new members, so you can create an account and test it yourself and see if you like it or not. Check if the service is user-friendly if you like designs, support, etc. and then compare it with other services, such as Aweber, Mail Chimp or Constant Contact.

CREATING AN ACCOUNT WITH GETRESPONSE

There are only 4 easy Steps to follow to create an account with GetResponse. See below my Step-by-Step guide to registering a Free account:

STEP 1: Go to Www.GetResponse.com and register a FREE account:

GetResponse register a free account

STEP 2: Confirm your subscription which has been sent to your email box:

GetResponse confirm your email

STEP 3: Complete Account details. (Note: Select a valid mobile number as they will send you a confirmation code that you will need to input to confirm your account)

STEP 4: A confirmation number will be forwarded to your mobile phone. After that, you are all set to start digging into the GetResponse member’s area.

GetResponse Email Marketing Service

Now that you have created an account, I want to show you some of the main features of Getresponse that I personally prefer. If you are an internet marketer like me, you can easily identify which are the critical factors that a good autoresponder service should have. Check below.

Most important aspects that I look in an autoresponder service is:

    • Easy to use and navigate.
    • Easy setup of campaigns: mainly the autoresponder series and sign-up forms.
    • Good email service deliverability: I hate having my autoresponder series going to the SPAM folder.
    • Good Support: It’s very helpful to have a quick support team to get back to you whenever you have a problem.
    • Customizable Opt-in forms with good looking designs.
    • Best service at the lowest price possible.

So, How Good Is GetResponse in these aspects?

As regards design, the site looks quite clean and professional. It’s easy to find what you look for with a simple navigation menu on the top (Contacts, Messages, Forms, Landing Pages, etc.). See below image of the member’s area (click on the picture to zoom in):

GetRsponse is Easy

If you take a look at the member’s area, you can notice that it is pretty straightforward and intuitive to navigate through the menu, and it’s not overwhelming at all.

Now, if you check on the left side, just in the middle, you can see a light blue button that says “Live Chat 24/7“. This is one of the most important features I found from GetResponse. I tested the live chat support, and they really answer you instantly even late at night.

For Opt-in forms, you will get +500 different templates that you can customize easily,  simply with drag & drop feature (You can also change colors and texts). Just to show you a sample of  the pre-designed templates, check below (By the way they are quite pretty, so you might not need to do a massive change to them):

GetResponse Free Templates

Now, talking about the email service deliverability, GetResponse does an excellent job in this field. I have tested sending an email to a Hotmail account (which are the most complicated to reach as emails always tend go to the Spam folder), and it worked perfectly. So, they are really superb in this aspect.

Side Note: I always recommend to have a Gmail account as they offer an excellent email service

What I also want to point out of GetResponse is that they provide a Landing page design service for free (also included in your Trial period) which usually costs around $25 per month with other services such as LeadPages or InstaPages. In my opinion not too easy to customize them.  I struggled a little bit tweaking around some of them. Nevertheless, you have these free landing pages that can be correctly used on your websites.

Additionally, they count with a “GetResponse University” where they teach you all about Email Marketing and how to improve your campaigns for FREE. This is an excellent feature that I didn’t found on other autoresponder services.

The GetResponse University has 2 plans: the “Short – Intensive” or a “Long – at your peace“. Contents are the same in both schemes, the only difference is the time which you will be taking to complete the training. The most used are the 180-day training as most of the people don’t have 3 spare hours per day to spend on it. You can check below for more details:

    • Up to 100,000 Subscribers: $450 (Basic) | $490 (Pro) | $580 (Max)
    • 100,00+ Subscribers: $799 Enterprise

If you do a market research between the most used Email Autoresponder services, you will find that they all cost almost the same. They may vary in $4 or $5 but definitely, the price will not be an important factor when choosing to which email service provider you will be signing in.

If it happens that you find a huge variance in price between services, bare in mind that this will be an investment. Don’t think about it as an expense as your intention is to create a successful online business. In my case, if a service is excellent and provides me what I need, I pay for it.

GETRESPONSE EMAIL MARKETING REVIEW – VERDICT

As I said at the beginning of this article, I’m not currently using GetResponse, but it is an outstanding service indeed.

The one I’m personally using is Aweber, which has a little fewer features than GetResponse, but it has a very fast and professional email deliverability.

My Top Recommendations are #1 Aweber and #2 GetResponse. There is no much of a variance between this 2, so the decision will rely on your personal feelings about each and obviously, your needs and wants.

What I do recommend, is to take advantage of the free trial they offer. Don’t go just for the paid version. Try each of the autoresponder services that provide a free trial and see which best suits you. Almost all these services offer a 30-day trial or even 60-day trial.

Lastly, before I give closure to this article, I just want to recommend not to get involved in email marketing if you are just starting with your website. If you are new, and you have a new blog, you must first focus on creating content and rankings on search engines. This will drive traffic to your website which is the Secret Key to have a good email marketing campaign. Bare in mind, below statement:

NO TRAFFIC = NO SUBSCRIBERS

GetResponse Overall Rank

5/5

If you do a market research between the most used Email Autoresponder services, you will find that they all cost almost the same. They may vary in $4 or $5 but definitely, the price will not be an important factor when choosing to which email service provider you will be signing in.

    Hello, Kevin,

Your article popped up at the right time. I’m starting to think about how I will start on the e-mail campaign issue.

You have made it quite clear how GetResponse with impartial remarks. The Step by step guide is very clear.

Just to know- do you offer any training about email marketing/Internet marketing? If so, how much does it costs?

    Cheers,

    Caito

  2. Juan -

I am an Internet marketer but I am new to the whole autoresponder services since, like you recommended, I have been focusing on creating content. Now I know the main aspects I need to look for in an autoresponder system. Good support is a must for me since I know I will be having several questions. This was very helpful thank you!

    • Kevin Balcker -

      Hi Juan,

Absolutely, before going into email marketing, you should first focus in content creation and getting a constant amount of traffic into your website.

GetResponse and Aweber, both offer a live chat support, so they are really good services. They will answer your questions almost instantly.

Nevertheless, if you feel confused or you don’t know where to start, you can feel free to reach me out for my help at https://www.residualincomesecrets.com/support. I don’t charge anything for help 😉

All the best in your email marketing campaign! Let me know your results with it.

    Hey Kevin,

I’m an avid Email Marketer and truly know the power of email. I have used both AWeber and GetResponse (among several others) but, came back to GetResponse for the ease of use and flexibility. I love the personalization methods and the easy way I can drag and drop emails to reschedule them. The templates are stellar and the Landing Pages fantastic. If anyone that is reading this is still on the fence, take it from a full-time online marketer, GetResponse will not only make your life easier, you’ll see a HUGE return on investment.

Awesome GetResponse Email Marketing review, Kevin.

    Cheers,

    Pj Germain

      Hey Pj,

Nice to hear that you are enjoying the service of GetResponse. It’s a really good one and as you said, it’s really an excellent investment.

I also recommend Aweber for the ease of use and because it’s my current email marketing tool, but both are excellent in what they offer.

Nice to hear you experience with this!

      All the best,

      Kevin

I really enjoyed your review, and I will keep Get Response in mind when I decide to add email marketing to my website.

I am just starting out so now I don’t have enough followers to invest in an email campaign, but I know it will be a useful tool in the future. I think it would be awesome to create an email list in the future and let all my followers know when I post a new blog or when I write a new Ebook.

Eventually I want to be a professional blogger like Jeff Goins, and I know an email service will help me build subscribers and market my writing. Great review!

    • Kevin Balcker -

      Hey there,

I agree, if you are just starting don’t even think about setting up an email marketing campaign. Just bookmark this article as it might be useful once you are ready.

Jeff Goins is a respected internet marketer. It’s always good to have a reference in your business field, so very good indeed 😉

      Cheers

      Kevin

  6. Louis -

    Hi Kevin,

Glad to come across your article while I am in the process of looking for a suitable tool for managing my email marketing activities. I’ll definitely give a try to GetResponse. I have checked out Aweber as well and as you mentioned, both services are similar. So which one will be recommend between these 2?

    Thanks for your sharing

    Louis

    • Kevin Balcker -

Both services are quite similar, they both work. I’m actually using Aweber due that they offered me a discount to join them. I have used GetResponse before a lot and it works perfectly well. If you need any help with the tool, don’t doubt to contact me 😉

  7. Ilyssa -

Great review! I have not thought about email marketing but this made me think that maybe I should. I love that I can try this free for 30 days. I am trying hard to get my business started, but right now it seems I am just spending money. It is nice to access something that could be helpful without having to do so!

    • Kevin Balcker -

Hi there! Yes, undoubtedly the free 30-day trial is awesome. You can try all the features for free and see if you like how it works or not. There are a lot more of options out there but I believe that GetResponse and Aweber are the best ones.

  8. troy -

I have never used an auto-responder service before and I really don’t know how they work. So far with my online business I have not recieved any subscribers to my site that would alow me to utilize this tool effectively. I think this is how it works? Don’t I have to build up an email list first? What would you suggest I do to attract subscribers?

    • Kevin Balcker -

      Hi Troy,

To have subscribers you will need to have an autoresponder tool, either GetResponse, Aweber , ConvertKit, etc.

Once you have a tool, you can start gathering people to your list. try to offer something of great value to your audience.

If you need any help, don’t doubt to write me with your concerns at https://www.residualincomesecrets.com/support

      Cheers

      Kevin

  9. Blake -

It is so frustrating when you can’t get people to join your email list. I will definitely bookmark your site and come back to it for more help. And wow that splash page with the ebook presented was a great touch. I strive to make my site as good as yours one day. Keep up the good work

    • Kevin Balcker -

Hey Blake! Don’t give up with your email marketing mate. Soon you will have a very big list 😉

Try to see if the amount of traffic you are getting is good and if the incentive you are offering to your audience is catchy or not.

Hope to see you around here again soon 🙂

      Kevin

  10. Carroll -

Hi kevin, Being new in the business of marketing I am glad you reviewed GetResponse. Your suggestion of waiting on getting an auto responder sounds like good advice. It is good to know they offer a university because I am uninformed on that subject. How many subscribers do you recommend I get before I look into getting a service?

    • Kevin Balcker -

      Hey Carroll,

Happy that you like my review 🙂

About your question, you don’t need to get subscribers prior to getting a service. If you are already having some decent traffic (ideally 20 to 30 unique visitors per day), I would recommend to start straight away from scratch. You will see that your list will grow very quick 😉

      Cheers mate,

      Kevin

  11. Travis Smithers -

I would agree with you on the fact that with new websites that do not have the traffic, there is not much sense in paying out for a service your not ready for yet.

Using the free trial periods is an excellent idea as well for finding out which one you would want to purchase when you are ready.

I take it if you use a free version while getting started that you can transfer your list of contacts to one of their paid versions afterwords?

    • Kevin Balcker -

      Hey, Travis.

      Thanks for leaving a comment.

As regards your question, definitely you can transfer your subscribers from one service to another. As you said, the free trials are great to test with which service do you feel more comfortable.

      Have a great day,

      Kevin

  12. stefan -

Hi Kevin! Nice review, thanks a lot! I have a website for 8 months now and I haven’t installed an autoresponder yet. My website has around 60 visitors per day, do you think this is the right time to do it?

I am interested in the GetResponse, but I am afraid to pay for it and not get the return. What’s the biggest difference from a free and paid autoresponder? Thanks a lot
    Stefan

    • Kevin Balcker -

      Hey Stefan!

60 visitors a day is absolutely perfect to start an email marketing campaign, well done!

Try the Getresponse Free trial and install SumoMe plugin (free too). On SumoMe you will have a feature called “Welcome Mat” that will increase the amount of subscribers to your list. Don’t miss that good amount of traffic you have!

  13. Krys -

This is really great information about email marketing. The tip at the end was priceless and much appreciated. Do you have an ideal traffic amount once someone has started blogging to try either of these services? If you don’t mind me asking, why is your current personal preference Aweber which has less features? Do you have any price comparisons between the two?

    • Kevin Balcker -

      Hi Krys,

A good amount of traffic to start an email marketing campaign is 20-30 unique visitors a day to your website. With that, you can do a very good start 😉

I am currently using Aweber because they offered me a lifetime discount some time ago. If you ask me, I personally prefer GetResponse because it has a lot more features, free training, etc. which Aweber hasn’t.

Here you can see the pricing options:

Definitely the most useful article I’ve read all day. Clear unbiased information is hard to come by and extremely valuable. I have to agree on all these points, as I’ve worked with several different email marketing solutions and also use Aweber the most often. I do like Benchmark Email for the unlimited free trial period.

  15. Cathy -

    Hi there Kevin,

Thanks for this review on Getresponse. I’ve been thinking of starting some email marketing campaign and was contemplating between a few services out there.

    Question;
1 – Is this service available worldwide?
2 – Does the Basic 1000 subscriber comes with Landing Page feature as well?

    Thank you again.

    • Kevin Balcker -

Hi Cathy, Let me answer your questions:

1- GetResponse is a Worldwide service. There are no limitations.

2- Yes, GetResponse provides Landing Pages with the basic plan

If you are about to start email marketing, I recommend you to start the Getresponse free trial because you don’t need to put your credit card. There are other services that offer a free trial but a credit card will be required (example: Aweber).

Don’t hesitate to reach me out if you have any doubt or question at https://www.residualincomesecrets.com/support

      Thank you,

      Kevin

  16. Tonya -

    Hi Kevin,

Thank you so much for this review. I am currently trying out Aweber. I am looking for a few more features, so I will be reviewing Get response as well. Great job with this review. Would you mind explaining the difference between a landing page and your website. I have heard of it before but I want to make sure I am on the right track with it.

Thanks a bunch for a great review.

    Best,

    Tonya

    • Kevin Balcker -

      Hi Tonya,

I think you are asking about the opt-in page that appears on my website (about the free ebook) vs a landing page, right?

A landing page is a static page that is part of your website. You can use it to “sell” a Product or service or Also to have subscribers.
On the other hand, The pop up opt-in in my website is not a static page included in my website. It’s just an opt-in which I created with the SumoMe plugin.

Let me know if This helps ?

  17. lifebeginswithyourhealth -

Very nice review on this email marketing program, may I ask why are you not using this program now and would you be willing to share what program you are using now and why?

Is email marketing still a big part of success with an online business today, many people get ignored with those pop ups to get you to sign up?

    • Kevin Balcker -

I’m not using GetResponse because I took advantage of an offer from Aweber to get their service at the lower cost lifetime. 🙂 but I have used GetResponse and it is excellent too.

Undoubtedly, email marketing is a key contributor to online business success.

  18. Chris -

I actually used this bunch about a year back because they had a free account that allowed a limited amount of addresses within – I thought they were very good especially considering I wasn’t paying for the account. I have also heard they offer SMTP services – do you know if this is true or not?
